Principal Welcome

Welcome

Dear Students and Families,

Welcome to Thurgood Marshall Middle School! We are excited to begin a new school year filled with opportunities to learn, grow, build relationships, and create lasting memories. We look forward to partnering with you to make this a successful and joyful year for all.

At Thurgood Marshall Middle School, we follow the guiding principle of D.R.E.A.M. — Dignity, Respect, Effort, Achievement, and Motivation. These values guide our actions, shape our school community, and inspire us to work toward success in middle school and beyond. We also believe in the importance of finding joy in each day by celebrating accomplishments, embracing new challenges, and supporting one another.

We are proud to be named after Thurgood Marshall, the first African American justice of the United States Supreme Court. Before his appointment to the Court, he was a dedicated attorney who fought for civil rights and led the NAACP Legal Defense and Educational Fund. He played a historic role in the movement to end racial segregation in American public schools. His legacy reminds us of the importance of fairness, equality, perseverance, and ensuring that every student has the opportunity to succeed.

We encourage all students and families to become active members of our school community. We hope you will join us for our many community events throughout the school year as we come together to learn, celebrate, and strengthen the connections that make our school special.

We are excited to welcome you to another wonderful year at Thurgood Marshall Middle School. Together, let’s live our D.R.E.A.M., find joy in each day, and make this a year of growth, achievement, and success!

Warmly,

Stephanie Doucette
