Welcome to Hood!

As a Hood Hawk, our students are part of a learning community that pushes everyone to develop as learners and leaders with aspirations to bring good into the world. To work towards this mission, each day we strive to:

•    have high academic and social expectations for all kids, and show that we believe they can meet them.
•    ensure our students do the majority of the thinking, talking, and doing when learning.
•    promote student agency through student voice, choice, and leadership.
•    structure learning to promote student independence and avoid over-scaffolding.
•    use culturally responsive practices to increase student engagement in learning.
•    use data to drive decision-making on behalf of students, staff, and families in our school community.

At Hood School, we firmly believe that “All our kids are all of our kids, and all our kids CAN!” We also know our work is only made possible through the support of all the important people in our students’ lives, including our Hood Hawk families and community members – Hood is a special place!
