Early Childhood & Elementary School Music

Early Childhood & Elementary School Music:

  • General Music: Students from PreK to Grade 5 participate in a weekly General Music Class as part of their comprehensive education program.Music is featured prominently in many school celebrations throughout the year, providing all students with a chance to engage in the Perform and Connect clusters of our state Music Standards.

  • Band & String Lessons: In Grades 4 & 5, students can explore learning a musical instrument as part of their school day schedule. This extra lesson is in addition to their regular General Music Class. Students may choose from the following instruments: violin, viola, cello, trumpet, trombone, clarinet, saxophone, flute, or percussion kit (drums & bells). The instrumental students often perform at their school assemblies. At the end of the year all Elementary Instrumental Students are invited to participate in the Elementary All-City Concert Series, providing a unique experience to perform as part of a large ensemble.

  • Elementary Chorus: At each of our Elementary Schools, upper-elementary students have the opportunity to attend a weekly School Chorus rehearsal during the school day. The School Chorus is the premier performing group at the school, studying advanced music and vocal concepts (such as singing in multiple languages, harmonization, and applying artistic expression and dynamics to their performance).
